Statzpack the company making team stats simple, announced today an agreement with the Houston Dynamo, the Major League Soccer (MLS) team in the USA. The Houston Dynamo have established themselves as a leading franchise in the MLS, reinforced by their launch of the youth academy in 2007. “I can see how clubs at the grassroots and non professional levels could embrace a system like this. With the help of the team at Statzpack we got up and running very quickly and it’s simple to use.” says Houston Dynamo Youth Development Director, James Clarkson. “It beats pen and paper and is very affordable. StatzSoccer allows me to track and record data that we can feed back into our training sessions or share with the team in general.”
Statzpack launched their Soccer product in August with significant interest from clubs and teams around the world. Teams simply record stats by i
Pod or iPhone touch, and the data makes its way to a website where it is graphically presented on a simple-to-use ‘click and play’ dashboard system. The company boasts English, Irish, Dutch, Canadian and now American professional clubs in its user base. With an English Premier League team using the system in first team games.
“We thank the Houston Dynamo for their interest and support. To be selected by such a high profile club proves the robust and flexible nature of our StatzSoccer product. We’re pleased with response throughout the US and Canada, especially within our primary focus, the youth teams and development academies.” said Mark Roberts, Director at Statzpack. “We believe stats can help teams improve their game, and equally important, that the data should be owned by the club, not the stats collector, and made available to share with players, and stored for use over the years not forgotten in a corner somewhere.” You can find out more about the Dynamo Houston Academy here and you can email us at info@statzpack.com.

Statzpack launches with 1st Gaelic Sports App on iTunes! - 2nd July 2009
Statzpack have launched a revolutionary statistics service aimed at the amateur sporting community. The first of a suite of sports allows GAA clubs to set up and record team stats for all panels, players and grades. Every game and campaign can be analysed and stored at a secure and easy to use website. And it comes with an added technological feature which is a global first for Gaelic Sports its’ very own Apple iPhone Application - StatzGaelic.
“The beauty of the system is that it is very easy to use. We have trialed it with schools, county level teams and clubs. We have users across each Province and even in the USA. We took the measure to recruit the input and expertise from coaches and players, past and present at all levels – but especially at grassroots. We have listened carefully to those who have given give a lot of their time to the game.” said Mark Roberts, director at Statzpack.
Paul Duffin, gaelic coach and teacher at St. Malachy’s High School, Castlewellan was one of the coaches who helped with product design. “From the offset of taking a look at the system I was immediately impressed. It’s easy to use and setup, the analysis and ability to drill down on a player or a game is terrific. Players will like it too, as time passes the system will build up a bank of personal info which that they can benefit from too.”
The iPhone application is an added benefit and comes free to Statzpack members and users with an iPhone or iPod touch can download an application from iTunes. Game stats can be recorded by simple touches of the screen, with all the info automatically uploading to the website. You can also see half and full time stats on, and even see past match reports .
“We quickly discovered that it was not enough to be able to add your stats via our website. Though this method works well for of our users, and allows coaches to transfer stats recorded on paper onto the system, the iPhone application allows you to stand pitch-side and add them as they happen. Every action gets ‘time stamped’ and you can see when and where things occurred in the game.”
Unlike other products in the market the system is provided as a ‘service’ rather than a separate software application you buy as a one off and use on a PC or PDA.
“When we looked at the community and the need for clubs to spend treasury money very carefully, we decided to offer our product as a membership service with a monthly fee, rather than to seek an upfront capital fee. Then as a provider of a quality service to the community we are continuously focused on development and improvements to the service. Clubs will only stick with the service if we deliver support, if we keep adding new features and tweaks as we go along. The world of sport and the needs of coaches and players will keep on changing, and we will keep changing our service.” Roberts added.
All clubs signing up can avail of a free 30 day trial at www.statzpack.com.
“Clubs or even individual teams can take advantage of a 30 day trial, to get a feel for the system, try it out and give us the feedback. This is truly a community focused product – we want the community to help us improve the service. ”
